The House That Long Creek Built - Update

Our friends Chad and Nancy recently returned from Uganda where they spent a month working with Watoto Children's Ministry. While in Uganda they stayed in Suubi village where they and the rest of the Long Creek build team helped construct a house in 2008. That house is now completed and ready for occupancy. One photo shows it under construction in 2008; the other photo is the finished home.

Unfortunately, the home has yet to hear the laughter of children, or feel the love of a mother. That's because the downturn in the world economy has resulted in the loss of hundreds of child sponsorships. This sponsorship money puts children in homes with mothers, provides food, clothing and shelter. If you'd like to learn more about sponsoring a child you can find lots of information at watoto.com. We continue to wait patiently for the eight children and mother who will call this house their home. The ailing economy certainly has not diminished their needs.

Another build team is making plans to return to Uganda in May 2010 to build our second home; this one in the north where the need is great. And like Watoto we too are seeing some of the affects of the sluggish economy as we raise the $30 000 needed to build the home. Again we wait patiently for the Lord to provide through the generosity of others.
