Long Creek To Watoto Update

In just five short months a group from Long Creek Baptist Church will be in Uganda, Africa.
It's hard to imagine right now as snow blankets the ground and Christmas lights color the Island landscape.

We're in the process of getting our passports, making travel arrangements, and receiving immunizations.

It's hard to believe getting a needle could be exciting. But as I rolled up my sleeve and stared at a huge map of the world pasted on the travel
clinic wall, my heart raced as I spotted tiny Uganda on the huge African continent.

The team that will be going to Africa has started to meet regularly, mostly to get to know each other better, and to learn more about where we are going and what to expect.

With $20 000 in the bank we are 2/3 of the way to reaching our goal of $30 000. All of the money is earmarked for construction of a home for eight children, and a house mother.

There's been some great events over the past several months; a corn boil, blueberry social, concert/silent auction, and gala dinner at the Culinary Institute, to name a few. It's been a wonderful experience; the fellowship within our church family, as well as sharing God's love with the community around us.

A lot of people have put in a lot of hard to get where we are. Thank you to everyone who has given their time, money and offered prayers. Please continue to pray for us; both the team traveling to Uganda, and everyone at home involved in the planning and fund-raising effort.
